You can say what you want, but the electric still remains as one of the essential and game-changing musical instruments of all time. After all, being creative as they are, guitar players have always been at the forefront of innovation in music. With this in mind, it’s only expected that guitar builders and both smaller and bigger brands have always done their best to keep up with all the innovations in the industry. One thing led to another, and guitars became more ergonomic, they sounded better, and – interestingly enough – started getting more affordable over the years.

But no matter the innovation that was put into these new guitars, some old concepts still remain at the very top of the guitar world. Of course, some of those innovative and boundary-pushing electric guitars have managed to capture the hearts of both guitar players and the audiences. Tone, design, overall ergonomic features, and reputation have made these instruments legendary. This is why we decided to go on a little adventure and find the coolest electric guitars that you can find on the market today. These are those “universally cool” instruments that you just can’t go wrong with, no matter the genre that you’re into.

Fender Player Stratocaster

It’s needless to say that the classic Stratocaster still retains its coolness factor since the early 1950s. This legendary design has proven to be universally awesome for pretty much any genre. Jazz, blues, heavy metal, pop, funk – you’ll see the same exact Stratocaster model with the same exact pickups and hardware used in all these musical styles. And in recent years, Fender came out with their more affordable Player series, including a version of the classic Stratocaster. It’s a somewhat “stripped-down” version of their more expensive guitars, including the classic Stratocaster. If you need something versatile and universal while still retaining some coolness in there, then you can easily go with the Fender Player Stratocaster model.

Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro V

To put it simply, you can rule the world with a Gibson Les Paul guitar. And, to be fair, you can’t ever go wrong with one, especially if you’re into blues, blues rock, hard rock, or classic metal music. The Les Paul Traditional model is really expensive. But it’s worth every single dime. The Pro V model brings all the classic old school features into the equation. However, Gibson has taken it to a whole new level and has even solidified the model’s quality. We have a mahogany body with a maple top, as well as a mahogany neck bearing a rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets. The guitar features two amazing “Tradbucker” humbucking pickups that manage to deliver all the much-needed nuances in the tone.

Guild Guitars Starfire V Semi-Hollow Body

Guild Guitars has to be one of the best brands on the market. They come a long way, starting their work way back in the early 1950s. However, a lot of their guitars still retain those vintage designs while also managing to bring in some qualities of contemporary guitars. If you’re into blues and old school rock ‘n’ roll, you’ll definitely want to check out their hollow-body Starfire V model. With a body made out of mahogany and a neck that’s a combination of mahogany and maple, you’ll get a somewhat mellower tone. It’s all rounded up with amazing Guild LB-1 pickups and an old school Bigsby-style vibrato tailpiece.

Gretsch Guitars G5422TG Electromatic

We could easily say that Gretsch is an underrated electric guitar brand. But experienced players know about it, especially those who are into old school stuff. The G5422TG model from their legendary Electromatic series comes as one of the perfect options if you’re into old school stuff, just like with the Guild’s Starfire V that we mentioned. This one is a bit simpler but it still remains high up on the “coolness” scale. It’s another hollow-body guitar made out of 5-ply maple, forming a set-in construction with a maple neck. Along with Filter’Tron pickups, it has a noticeably brighter tone that’s amazing for rockabilly stuff.

Fender Vintera ’70s Telecaster Custom

Fender is one of the coolest brands in the guitar town so we’re deciding to bring yet another one of their models in this list. The next model is their Vintera ’70s Telecaster custom. It’s a guitar that brings some amazing vintage features, including a maple neck with a 7.25-inch fretboard radius and 21 frets. We have a standard slanted single-coil pickup in the bridge position, along with a humbucker in the neck position. It all comes with separate volume and tone controls for both pickups, as well as a 3-way selector switch that’s located on the bass side of the body. It’s somewhat unusual, but this guitar does wonders for plenty of different genres. Additionally, its neck feels awesome, especially if you’re into old school kind of guitars.

Gibson SG Standard

In the end, there’s hardly anything more awesome than Gibson’s SG Standard. This guitar model finds its way into pretty much any genre. Coming with amazing Gibson’s Humbucker pickups and a very ergonomic body and neck design. With mahogany as the main material and other design traits, like its classic headstock, you’ll get an amazing sustain and very balanced tone. It’s expensive, but it’s worth it.

Regardless of whether you’re a beginner who got star-struck while watching a rock show or someone simply interested in learning how to play an instrument, the chances are that you want to test your luck with a budget guitar.

Experienced people who aim to become professionals are the ones that wouldn’t mind spending more than $1,000 on a guitar, but luckily you don’t.

Now, since the market is literally littered with thousands and thousands of low-quality guitars in this price range, we’ve taken the opportunity to pluck out some of the better ones for your convenience.

Squier by Fender Mini Stratocaster

There’s a list of very obvious reasons why the Stratocaster is the go-to guitar of many beginner players – it’s pretty cheap, and it boasts a highly recognizable, iconic sound that casts a long shadow over pretty much all other low-end guitars.

Now, this is a Mini Stratocaster, which has a slightly shorter scale length of 22.75 inches while the rest of its specs are the same as its full-sized counterpart.

It rocks a Poplar body with a magnificent Satin finished, a Laurel-made fingerboard, and a set of three single-coil magnets that are as strong as they are versatile. In all truth, cheap guitars typically can’t get much better than this.

Washburn 6 String S1TS Sonamaster Series

People in the music industry are well aware of the fact that Washburn is a top-tier brand that earned most of their through top-quality boutique guitars. Luckily for most beginners and people who are a bit low on cash, they also have a couple of models that are available at rather attractive prices.

The S1TS Sonamaster is an excellent choice for pretty much any music genre, any playing style, and players of all skill levels.

It boasts outstanding playability; its hardware is robust and reliable, and it packs triple Sonamaster SS pickups that roar like a wounded animal. If you’re out searching for a good-sounding guitar on a budget, we warmly recommend the S1TS.

Squier by Fender Bullet Mustang

Bullet Mustang is one of those guitars that players end up being stuck with for years after learning the basics of guitar playing.

Essentially, it’s so light, and so playable that most mid-range guitars can’t even get close to it. What does come as quite a surprise is that its price tag is ridiculously low considering how terrific its sonic performance is.

The Bullet Mustang features a sturdy body made of Poplar and a Laurel-made fingerboard; its body is super-light and sleek, and it has a string-through-body bridge that can withstand years and years of use and abuse.

This is a classic-sounding road-worthy guitar that can come in quite handy as a replacement or a practice guitar if you already have your main go-to one; if you don’t, the chances are it will become precisely that.

Austin AST100BK Double Cutaway Electric Guitar

Country, blues, and jazz fans should not shy away from the opportunity to own an Austin guitar, especially if it’s as great-sounding and as cheap as the AST100BK.

Essentially, this is an affordable guitar made for beginners, but its tone is so eclectic that it could easily follow you through various stages of your musical evolution. It’s made of maple and hardwood, and it’s substantially more durable than most low-end axes.

Ibanez GRX70QATRB

Ibanez has equipped lovers of a bit heavier genres of music with top-shelf instruments for decades now; if you’re into rock or metal and are looking for an inexpensive electric guitar, you might want to give GRX70QATRB a shot.

This beautiful instrument features a Transparent-Red Burst texture, a top made of Alder Wood, a poplar body, and an Oakwood back. Furthermore, it sports super-hot Infinity R magnets that sit well with both low-output practice amps and full Marshall Stacks just the same.

Shredneck Travel Guitar Deluxe

People who have slightly smaller hands and fingers sometimes think they are not exactly built to play an instrument.

Shredneck’s Travel Guitar Deluxe will help you think otherwise; this instrument was tailor-made for beginners, younger players, and people with tiny fingers, as it sports a shorter scale and an exceptionally playable neck.

This guitar rocks a top made of Flamed Maple, a Maple neck, a body made of solid wood, and its back is made of Nato (Eastern Mahogany).

In terms of tonality, it’s all around the place, stretched wide and thin across the tonal spectrum. The most important thing about its performance is that it combines accessibility with a superbly sounding body.

Jackson JS Series Dinky Minion JS1X

The Dinky Minion was originally designed for the youngest of players, but since it has a massive, full-bodied sound, it’s frequently picked up by more experienced players too. This is a highly affordable guitar, and most people wouldn’t be able to tell without seeing the price tag.

Jackson’s JS1X features a Maple top while the rest of its body is mainly built from poplar; this means that its durability is almost unmatched. Furthermore, it sports top-quality hardware, a shorter scale length, and a highly playable fingerboard made of excellent-quality Amaranth.

Ivy IJZ 300 TSB Jazz Solid-Body Electric Guitar

Let’s wrap our review up with Ivy’s IJZ 300 TSB – a great-sounding cheap guitar. It looks almost like a beat-up Les Paul, although it sounds like a well-preserved one.

It offers a warm tone provided by the mahogany construction, and it’s just slightly less durable than average; be it as it may, it’s superb playability and exquisite aesthetics separate it from most low-end electric guitars.

Rock ‘n’ roll gear is strikingly different from instruments and accessories you’d use for playing, say pop or R&B music. You’ll need heavier guitars, louder amps, and a bit different strings; while most people already have the former, we’re here to make a couple of suggestions regarding the latter:

Ernie Ball Power Slinky Nickel Wound Sets .011

Our first pick is a 3-pack of Ernie Ball’s Power Slinky custom-gauge strings. They’re made of wound nickel that can withstand months of touring and that will complement your sound with extra roughness on the lower end and a bonus in crispness as far as the top end goes.

Note that these strings are super-thick; they’re very playable, but they’re not exactly perfect for solo guitar players unless your tuning is super low (like for instance C or Flat B).

Dunlop DHCN1150 Heavy Core Nickel Wound Guitar Strings

Rockers and metalheads who are looking for quality strings should take a look at Dunlop’s DHCN1150 Heavy-Core strings. These beauties offer rapid attack and ultimate playability topped with superbly defined lows; however, you’ll notice that the ‘thinner’ strings are not exactly ‘thin’, so getting accustomed to these might take you a while.

On a bit brighter note, Dunlop’s DHCN1150 set is exceptionally affordable, and since they are made of ultra-robust material you can rest assured that you’ll be able to use them for at least a couple of months.

Ernie Ball 2215 Skinny Top Heavy Bottom 3-Pack

The 2215 string set is perfect if you are playing in a one-guitar band; the heavy bottom strings will allow you to nail down super heavy riffs while the ‘skinny’ top strings will provide you with the ability to pull off slick solos on the same guitar. They sound and feel amazing, but they’re also a bit more expensive in comparison to standard heavy-gauge strings.

Dunlop DEN1046 Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings .10

Dunlop’s DEN1046 string set is strikingly different from DHCN1150; these strings are brighter, warmer, and offer a more pronounced presence and mids. In terms of playability, these strings are almost unmatched, but it’s their strong, reliable tone that sets them apart from similarly priced models.

They are absolutely ideal for rock, hard rock, glam, and certain sub-genres of metal, but they are also versatile enough to accommodate the needs of those who are into a bit ‘mellower’ music as well.

GHS Strings BCCL Big Core Nickel Rockers

Even though these strings are a bit more expensive than most people would bargain for, they offer unprecedented playability without compromising their sonic performance. They’re made of exceptionally durable round-wound nickel with a hexagonal core and are super-light.

On top of that, their oversized core affords you with a more balanced sustain and generally a bigger, warmer, full-bodied tone. The only thing that you might not like so much about the BCCL Rockers is that they are custom-gauge strings, which means that you’ll need a couple of days to get accustomed to how they feel.

While everyone focuses on the build quality, pickups, ergonomic features, and other traits of electric guitars, the matter of strings gets kind of neglected. After all, this is where your initial tone starts, so it’s only obvious that strings play a huge role in shaping your overall output as a guitar player. Additionally, different kinds of strings will also make things more or less noisy or comfortable, depending on their design.

But what’s really tricky is the whole process of finding the best electric guitar strings for your needs. With so many products on the market, you might get lost finding the perfect set for you. Of course, this also depends on so many different factors, including your preferred style of music, the kind of tone that you’re aiming for, as well as the preferences in string gauges. Since it might not be the easiest task to find the best strings these days, we figured we could help you out by doing some research and bringing in the best electric guitar strings on the market.

Elixir Optiweb

Elixir are one of the most respected string brands on the market today. Although more expensive, their strings keep things really fresh for a very long time. For instance, Elixir Optiweb are nickel-plated steel strings with the company’s special coating that will keep them safe from any rust and dirt for a very long time. And this particular set is extremely bright and manages to stay like that even months after constant playing sessions. Although more expensive, you just can’t go wrong with these ones if you’re into a brighter tone.

Ernie Ball Classic Pure Nickel Super Slinky

Ernie Ball is one of the most important players in this game, and thei Super Slinky sets have proven to be one of the most popular ones on the market. Whatever is the genre, guitarists will quite often go for Classic Pure Nickel Super Slinky sets. This is mostly due to their “balanced” tone that covers all parts of the audible spectrum evenly. They are relatively light as these sets are in the 9-42 gauge. At the same time, they’re very comfortable to play.

GHS Strings BCCL Big Core Nickel Rockers

GHS is one of the first manufacturers that comes to mind for true electric guitar lovers. The set that we’re looking into here is their BCCL Big Core Nickel Rockers that come in an air-tight package that keeps them fresh right before you put them on your guitar. These are round-wound strings that are on a slightly larger than usual hex core. This gives them a medium bright tone and prolonged sustain.

Gibson Brite Wires

Additionally, we’d like to mention Gibson and their Brite Wires. These are especially designed to work with those vintage-oriented guitars and bring that strong crisp attack to the equation. They come with a nickel plating and a Sweedish steel hex core. With these strings, your guitar will have both the brightness and warmth, which is very unique for those old school rock and blues songs.

As we’re watching TV shows and live concerts of musicians we often see that guitarists have long, pointy fingers; we imagine that that’s why they’re playing so good while the fact of the matter is that they’re simply practicing ten hours a day.

On another hand, it’s also true that people with smaller hands are at a slight disadvantage; even so, there are many guitars from many different brands that were specifically manufactured to cater to their needs. We’ve taken the liberty of handpicking a couple of the best high-value ones. Let’s dive right into it!

Squier by Fender Mini Stratocaster

New players and beginner guitarists start off with a Fender Stratocaster, professionals end up using it even after they’ve garnered fame and fortunes. The reason for this is simple; this is a highly playable, great sounding guitar.

It sports a shortened scale length, excellent hardware, and an impeccable selection of top-shelf tonewoods, so if you’re out on the market looking for an all-rounder, we warmly recommend the Mini Stratocaster.

Schecter Omen Extreme-6 Electric guitar

Shecter is one of those ‘specialized’ brands that mainly produce instruments for lovers of heavier music genres and styles.

This mainly involves rock and metal, and it’s not a coincidence that musicians that are involved with these styles have the same physical demands as people with smaller hands; they need to be able to gallop along the fingerboard while executing complex techniques, which is where the Omen Extreme comes into play.

This is, first and foremost, a marvelously sounding guitar; even though it costs a bit more than average, it is nearly unparalleled in fields of accessibility and playability. Its sound is dominated by the warm and deep basswood and complemented by maple and mahogany.

Squier by Fender Mini Jazzmaster HH

If you’re into Fender but haven’t jumped onto the Stratocaster bandwagon (still), there’s a perfect alternative for you called the Mini Jazzmaster HH. Essentially, Mini Jazzmaster shares the same design with the Mini Strat, although it feels and sounds strikingly different.

This guitar features a poplar body and a fingerboard made of sleek Maple, which you’ll notice feels light and polished, even if untouched for months. In comparison to the Mini Strat, it offers standard humbuckers (as opposed to single-coil pickups), and it shares the same shortened scale length.

Yamaha Revstar RS320

Yamaha’s guitars are renowned for their peculiar body designs and terrific tones that are otherwise inaccessible with other guitars. The RS320 is not an exception, as it packs the exquisite ‘half-cutaway’ design, allowing players to reach the furthest frets with ease.

In terms of sonic performance, this guitar features an Eastern Mahogany body and high-output ceramic pickups that complement its strong, punchy tone with extra balance. Furthermore, this guitar is exceptionally durable, and even though it already looks great, it’s available in a plethora of color style variations that you can choose between.

Grote Tele Set-in Electric guitar

Fender invented, crafted, and popularized the Telecaster, and many brands tried to replicate their design. Grote is one of the companies that have managed to do it properly while also putting their own stamp on it.

The Grote Tele is a maple-made guitar with a shortened scale length (25.5 inches), 22 tall and wide frets, and two balanced pickups; it offers an excellent balance between a highly controllable and customizable sound and a sleek, easy to play fingerboard.

We wholeheartedly recommend it to both beginners and experienced players, as this is one of the few entry-level guitars that offer as much value as quality.

Ibanez GRX 70QATRB

Ibanez guitars are characterized by fast, thin-shaped necks that are exceptionally easy to grip. The GRX 70QATRB is an excellent example of what this brand’s engineers are capable of, and even though it costs a bit more than a standard budget guitar, it sounds like a professional one, looks like a professional one, and feels like a professional one.

This guitar features an Alder top and a back made of Oak while its body is made of poplar. It will be able to survive the beatings of the road, practice sessions, and live performances with ease and its tone will reliably be at your disposal even if you do grow out of it after making it to the upper echelons of the music industry.

Traveler Guitar V88S EYLGMP

Traveler Guitars are famous among commuting and gigging guitarists mainly because they’re much lighter and smaller than ‘average’ guitars. What makes the V88S EYLGMP so great for people with smaller hands is the fact that all of its frets are actually accessible from both sides.

Furthermore, it packs a shorter scale length, and due to its reduced size, it’s also significantly lighter, which is a tremendous boon to its already-great playability.

ESP LTD MH 203QM

Let’s pull down the curtains with ESP’s LTD MH-203QM electric guitar. The first thing you’ll notice about this axe is that it looks much cooler than most mid-range and obviously budget guitars. It’s made of top-tier Maple and Mahogany, so it will sound like a caged beast no matter where you plug it in.

The instrument’s playability level is through the roof as its frets are a bit wider and taller than average. The downside, however, is the fact that it does not feature inlays, so coordinating between the frets might be a bit of an issue for you.

Starting out on your path to become a guitar player is always exciting. Things get even more interesting if you decide on getting an electric guitar. After all, this great instrument comes with so many advantages and, above all, versatility in expression. By using different amps, pedals, and other devices and gadgets, you not only get unusual and “unconventional” sounds, but also a lot of versatility and functionality. And this is exactly why it found its place in so many different musical styles, even in contemporary mainstream pop music on some occasions.

On the other hand, there are a few challenges that come with electric guitars. The first, and the obvious one, is that it requires more stuff in order to work. You need amps, pedals, and other equipment in order to make it all work. And as if that doesn’t bring enough costs on its own, electric guitars can get really pricy as well. However, you don’t need to worry as there are still some cheap electric guitars that are actually really great. It may get a little tricky to find some examples, but it’s still not an impossible task. With this said, we’ve done some research on our own and have found some of the best cheap electric guitars that you can find on the market these days.

Epiphone Les Paul Special I With P90 Pickups

Epiphone is one of the first brands that comes to mind when there’s a talk about cheap electric guitars. Most notably, it’s the Special series that sparks up the most attention here. However, we have a really special (pun intended) model, the Special I series Les Paul but with two P90 pickups. This is an amazing choice that sounds really unique. Although it’s on the exact limit between an inexpensive and a mid-priced guitar, it’s definitely worth the price and a great addition to this list. Combined with its mahogany body and neck, you’ll get a really bluesy hard rock tone. It’s a very versatile one and comes in handy for an abundance of genres.

Donner DST-100W

Donner is one of the most famous brands among those seeking for cheap but good electric guitar stuff. While they’re better known for their pedals, there are still some amazing guitars in their arsenal, like DST-100W. This is a classic Strat-shaped guitar that comes with some surprisingly great features considering its very low price. Aside from having a solid build quality, this guitar comes with a humbucker-single-single pickup configuration. This makes it a very versatile instrument that’s capable of covering different genres. To be fair, Donner’s DST-100W is the best value for the money in this price category. Additionally, it also comes in a bundle that includes a mini amp, a gig bag, a tuner, a strap, and a lot of other stuff.

Fender Squier Bullet Strat SSS

While we’re at classic Strat-style guitars, Squier and their Bullet model with the classic triple single-coil pickup formation. The best thing about this one is how great it feels under your hands. This is mostly due to its great “C”-shaped maple neck. Although a fairly cheap instrument designed for beginners, this one can handle even more serious settings. After a while, you can even swap its pickups and get it pretty close to a semi-pro or a pro-level guitar. And all of its other features are really a surprise for the price that you pay for. Just like any Fender Stratocaster, this is a fairly versatile instrument that finds implementation in genres from blues, jazz, and up to heavy metal.

Ibanez Gio GRX20

While Ibanez is mostly known for their high-end expensive shred machines, they still have some affordable instruments to offer as well. This is the case with their GRX20 model, which comes as one of the examples of their famous Gio line of electric guitars. It’s a fairly straightforward shred machine with two humbuckers, volume and tone controls, as well as a tremolo bridge. This “Super-Strat” guitar has a body made of alder which adds to its great tight tone. If you’re into heavy metal and just need something really cheap yet reliable to shred on, then you should definitely consider Ibanez’s GRX20.

Jackson JS22 Dinky HT

While we’re at it, Jackson’s JS22 Dinky is another simple choice for guitarists who are looking for an affordable shred machine. Here, we’d like to mention the HT version that comes with two humbuckers and a hardtail bridge. Although you won’t get a tremolo arm, this guitar comes with its amazing build quality and ergonomic features. You can even implement it in many different genres, although hard rock and metal are its main focus. JS22 Dinky HT is a safe choice for the money.

Yamaha Pacifica PAC012

Lastly, we have Yamaha’s classic Pacifica series and the PAC012 model. Although not as “exciting” or aesthetically appealing compared to some of these shred-oriented guitars, this is still a guitar that’s surprisingly great for its price. With an Agathis body, maple neck, and a humbucker-single-single pickup formation, every genre will be at your disposal. And let’s not get into how great this guitar feels and how reliable it is. Whatever is the music that you’re into, you just can’t go wrong with Yamaha Pacifica guitars, even the cheapest ones.

Even after all these decades, the world of guitar is still full of innovations. Year after year, manufacturers bring something new, even if it’s just a slight change or improvement of aesthetic features. But the biggest innovation takes some time and often brings a lot of stuff with it.

Since its invention, electric guitars have seen a lot of changes. However, acoustic guitars got somewhat neglected and you still needed a good microphone for them if you wanted to do something for live shows. But after some time, manufacturers began implementing piezo sensors that served as pickups.

Located under the guitar’s saddle, these pickups could be amplified and can even come with their own preamplifiers integrated into the guitar’s body. These days, acoustic-electric guitars are a pretty common sight and many of them have a really convincing tone when plugged into any regular PA system.

What may present a problem here is the price. The rule is always the same – if you want a good tone, you need to pay a lot. But what if we told you that you can actually find some amazing acoustic-electric guitars within the budget-friendly territories? Of course, it may not be always the easiest task to find one out there, but it’s still far from an impossible task. We went deeper into this topic to bring you the list of the best cheap acoustic-electric guitars.

Donner DAG-1CE

Known for their super-cheap yet quality and reliable pedals, Donner also has some pretty interesting electric and acoustic guitars. As for acoustic guitars with Piezos and electronics, they have a pretty nice model called DAG-1CE. It’s intended as a full-sized guitar for beginners. However, we have a few features and other qualities that make it very suitable even for intermediate or advanced players. First, its body is made of spruce and it features mahogany back and sides. The neck is also a mahogany one, with a “C” profile and 20 frets in total. It also comes with a pretty decent preamp and piezo system that has its built-in tuner and a very useful 3-band EQ. For this price, there’s hardly any chance that you’ll get a better deal.

Carlo Robelli CRF600CES

Although not exactly the most famous brand out there, Carlo Robelli still has some nice instruments to offer. This simple guitar with a dreadnaught-shaped body comes with a laminated linden top and laminated Agathis back and sides. While this is most certainly not a luxurious option, the build quality is pretty amazing, making this guitar very reliable and durable. It has an Okoume neck fitted with a rosewood fingerboard that comes with 20 frets. Carlo Robelli CRF600CES also comes with a scale length of 25.5 inches and a very useful and comfortable cutaway for easier access to higher frets. Its preamp and piezo system come with 3-band EQ, volume, and presence controls, as well as a bass cut button. It’s a pretty versatile combo for players of any genre.

Fender FA-125CE

Fender is an unavoidable brand in pretty much any category of instruments or gear. Surprisingly enough, they also have some pretty cheap instruments to offer that still manage to retain basic qualities and features of those more expensive examples. From their collection of acoustic-electric guitars, we’d like to single out FA-125CE for this particular category. It’s a single-cutaway guitar with dreadnaught body shape, featuring a spruce top in combination with basswood back and sides. We can also find a very comfortable nato wood neck that has a fantastic walnut fingerboard with 22 frets. It has a very simple yet amazing preamp with volume, bass, and treble controls, along with a built-in tuner. Knowing its qualities and a surprisingly low price, we can safely say that you can’t go wrong with this one.

Ashthorpe Full-Size Cutaway Thinline Acoustic-Electric Guitar

There are plenty of those “generic” brands out there, and there’s even some good stuff in this category of instruments as well. Ashthorpe is not exactly a guitar brand that you’ll often find, but they have a pretty nice full-sized single-cutaway acoustic-electric guitar worth checking out if you’re operating on a budget. This one comes with a preamp with some very useful controls, including a 3-band EQ and a presence knob. Although very cheap, the guitar can even come in handy for some live gigs.

Fender FA-235E

Of course, it was really difficult not to include at least one more Fender acoustic-electric guitar model on this list. Although standing somewhere right on the edge between the inexpensive and expensive, the FA-235E model outperforms its price range. You can see that right away with its unique and aesthetically pleasing design. It has a concert body-shape and a somewhat unusual headstock design. But its build quality, materials, and tone are unmatched for this cost. With a flamed maple top and mahogany sides, you’ll get a very rich and resonant tone that covers both high and low-end of the spectrum. But the most exciting part is that it comes with Fishman electronics and pickup that get the best out of this fine instrument. The idea behind this one was to have great looks, comfort, as well as the tone for a fairly cheap price.

Getting into guitars is one of the best things that you can do to yourself. And that’s especially the case with electric guitars since they provide you with amazing potential in artistic expression. Just imagine all the different amps, effects, and other devices that can help you achieve different tones. With an electric guitar and a proper setup, the sky is your limit. However, there’s a catch here – playing the electric guitar is a bit of an expensive sport. In order to sound like a pro, you need to pay like a pro.

Knowing that a lot of guitar players can’t afford luxurious equipment, this always comes at a cost of tone and overall performance. But you don’t need to worry that much. These days, there are still decent and more than just decent guitars, amps, pedals, and other guitar gear that are available for a reasonable price. This is exactly why we decided to help you out in finding the best cheap electric guitar that you can find on the market today. Of course, the choice was not that easy and there needs to be something for everyone’s needs. After some consideration and weighing, we’ve compiled this list of affordable electric guitars.

Yamaha Pacifica PAC112V

It might be right on the edge between inexpensive and mid-priced, but Yamaha’s Pacifica series has a lot of great stuff to offer for the price. This is exactly the case with their PAC112V model. It’s a fairly simple guitar based on the classic Stratocaster, yet it covers so many different sonic territories. It comes with an alder body and a wonderful maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. It feels pretty great under your hands and it’s an amazing choice if you need something to cover multiple different genres. This is mostly due to its pickup configuration with one humbucker and two single-coils.

Jackson Dinky JS32

In almost all cases, people think that they need to splurge out a large sum of money in order to have a good shred machine. But this couldn’t be farther from the truth since you can always get yourself a good old Jackson Dinky. The JS32 model might be somewhere right on the edge of this category when it comes to the price, but it’s more than worth every penny. It comes with a poplar body and a maple neck and it carries two very powerful humbuckers for those heavy tones. What makes it really special is that it has 24 jumbo frets and Jackson’s version of the legendary Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo. You don’t really find these features anywhere else for such a low price. And don’t even get us started on all the amazing ergonomic features that it has.

Epiphone Les Paul Special

For so many years now, Epiphone has been making some of the best guitars for the price. One of the best examples is their standard Les Paul Special, which brings some of the basic features of the classic Gibson Les Paul in the form of a very affordable instrument. With it’s dual humbucker formation, mahogany body, mahogany neck, and a classic tune-o-matic bridge, you’ll get a great tone and performance for rock, blues, hard rock, and even heavy metal music. It’s a very simple, cheap, and extremely versatile guitar.

Leo Jaymz Full Size Single Cut

While we’re at Les Paul guitars, there are plenty of budget-friendly single-cutaway guitars that are available on the market these days. Another one that we’d single out is Leo Jaymz’s classic single-cutaway model. This one rocks a regular mahogany body and a mahogany neck with a “C”-shaped profile. Although a “Les Paul knock-off,” you’ll get a pretty great guitar for the price. The pickups are pretty decent as well and you can get a nice tone out of it. And the most interesting part is its USA flag finish as well as its nice inlays on the fretboard.

Donner DST-1S

Donner is one of the most famous cheap brands on the market, delivering some pretty decent and reliable guitar stuff for surprisingly low prices. While they’re mostly known for their pedals, we have some guitars in there as well, like their DST-1S model. This is a regular full-size guitar that mimics a classic Stratocaster. However, it comes with an amazing pickup combination with one humbucker in the bridge position and two single-coils. It’s all rounded up with a nice Strat-shaped body made of basswood and a Canadian maple neck. It’s pretty surprising to have such a nice and versatile guitar for this price.

Ibanez GRGM21

Whatever is the price level, you can’t ever go wrong with Ibanez. And that’s also the case with their low-end stuff, including a guitar like GRGM21 that we singled out as the best example. The guitar comes with a basswood body and a maple neck that’s fitter with a jatoba fretboard. This instrument comes with 24 frets and 5 tone combinations with its two humbucking pickups. This is not a common feature, especially not for a guitar of this price. GRGM21 comes as a stripped-down budget version of Ibanez’s versatile shred machines that they’re very well known for. Whatever is the genre that you’re into, this one will do an amazing job.

The electric guitar pretty much changed the history of modern music. Almost any genre today will have at least some sections where it’s present, one way or another. With this in mind, it comes as no surprise that the instrument is popular even to this day. After all, we have plenty of options for expression and the instrument comes in so many shapes and forms, satisfying everyone’s needs.

However, it kind of gets hard to find the right guitar for the price that you’re aiming for. It seems as if the market is filled with either those super-cheap electric guitars or super expensive ones, and that there’s nothing in between. While cheaper ones can be really good for the price, there are still some drawbacks that might feel like deal-breakers to intermediate or advanced guitarists.

This is why we decided to do a little digging and bring some of the best electric guitar deals within the mid-range category. These instruments are often very similar to pro-level stuff, although they come as “stripped-down” versions without some of those more expensive additions or features. One thing’s for sure – you can’t go wrong with any of these guitars below.

Fender Player Stratocaster

While Fender is well-known for the professional level guitars, there are still some mid-priced instruments that are more than worth your attention. A great example comes with their Player series, especially the Player Stratocaster. Although the price is significantly lower compared to some more expensive Strats, you’ll still get a great tone and amazing playability. All the basic features and traits are there, including an alder body, maple neck with a “C”-shaped profile, classic tremolo bridge, and three single-coil pickups. Additionally, it also has 22 frets instead of the standard 21 that we find on most Strats. It’s the best choice if you love Fender Strats and just don’t feel like spending a ton of money on one.

ESP LTD EC-401

ESP’s subsidiary LTD has a lot of exciting stuff to offer. And if we’re talking about intermediate mid-level price electric guitars, you’ll hardly find a brand that surpasses them in this category. If you’re a metal musician that still values some diversity and likes some “traditional” features, then their EC-401 is what you’ll want to check out. Based on the classic Les Paul shape, it comes with a “sharper” look and a very modern-looking design and finish. The most important thing about this guitar is its set of active EMG pickups. The combination of 81 in the bridge position and the 60 in the neck position brings a very effective combo for metal music. This one is a real mean machine for metal lovers, both in terms of tone and aesthetics. And, on top of it, it’s really ergonomic and easy to play.

Paul Reed Smith SE Custom 22

There’s one amazing thing about Paul Reed Smith guitars – they’re really consistent. Even if you buy the same model a few years later, it would be as if you got them from the same production line and the same exact series. This is also the case with their SE Custom 22 guitar, which is, at this point, an industry standard. The very comfortable body and neck shape make this guitar really easy to play. This is all accompanied by Paul Reed Smith’s stock 85 and 15 humbucker models, as well as basic volume and tone controls. This is a fairly versatile and extremely reliable guitar that will serve you well even if you’re an advanced guitar player.

Ibanez RG450DX

Ibanez is a name that needs no further introduction. For many decades now, they’ve been making some of the best guitars of all time in pretty much all the price categories. For this list, we’re bringing a relatively cheap but really effective RG450DX model that’s been around for a while. Bearing the classic “Super Strat” shape, it features a mahogany body, maple neck, as well as a jatoba fretboard with 24 jumbo frets. In combination with the DL Tremolo Bridge and Ibanez’s own Quantum pickups in H-S-H formation, this makes for one extremely versatile shred machine. Although popular among metal players, it’s also useful for almost any other genre out there.

Epiphone G-400 Pro

If we’re talking about quality mid-range guitars, Epiphone is an unavoidable choice here. The long-lasting line of SGs continued with Epiphone’s amazing G-400 series, with Pro models taking a really special place. This guitar takes all the classic SG features and wraps it is a more “modest” package. The classic design is there and it’s accompanied by the standard configuration of two humbucking pickups and two volume and two tone pots. To put it simply, this guitar will feel almost as if you’re playing Gibson’s SG, aside from a few “stripped-down” features.

Schecter Omen Extreme-6

Lastly, we have one amazing mid-range choice for metal lovers. Schecter really makes some versatile stuff, but they’re mostly popular among metal fans. This is mostly due to guitars like their Omen Extreme-6 model. This guitar sounds as mean as it looks. What’s more, it will also provide a great platform for both chugging heavy riffs and soaring high-gain lead sections. Its Schecter Diamond Plus pickups really do a great job and even bring some versatility in there with the coil-splitting feature.
